Agriculture Women of the Year

Ohio First Lady Karen W. Kasich and Ohio Agriculture Director David T. Daniels are now accepting nominations for the 2013 Ohio Agriculture Women of the Year Awards. Nominations must be submitted by June 21st and will be reviewed by a diverse committee of industry leaders. Winners will be selected on the basis of their outstanding contributions to Ohio agriculture, leadership and advocacy in the agricultural community and significant impact on the agriculture industry as a whole.

Director Daniels congratulates Brad and Mary Ann Berry and family on receiving the Ohio Livestock Coalition/Ohio Cattlemen's Association Environmental Stewardship Award on September 7. The family grows corn, beans and hay and raises cattle on their 64-acre farm in Fairfield County, which has been selected to be preserved under the 2011 Clean Ohio Agricultural Easement Purchase Program.
The mission of the Ohio Department of Agriculture is to protect Ohio's citizens by assuring the safety of the state's food supply, the health of Ohio's food animals and plant life; and to create economic opportunities for Ohio's farmers, food processors and agribusinesses.
